Social Services Director of The Salvation Army

Ms. Chan Siu-Lai is the current Social Services Director of The Salvation Army. She has been involved in social service work for over thirty years and has participated in various services related to children and youth services, rehabilitation services, and social enterprise. Currently, she leads a team of over 1500 employees in The Salvation Army’s Social Services Department, providing services in areas such as the elderly, youth, children, persons with disabilities, street sleepers, and caregivers, to offers appropriate assistance and services to individuals facing difficulties and those who are neglected in society, while seeking effective solutions to social problems.

Ms. Chan has always been concerned about the development of social services and welfare policies. She has held multiple public positions, including the Transport Advisory Committee, the Lotteries Fund Advisory Committee, Child Fatality Review Panel, the Social Work Training and Manpower Planning Consultation Committee, the Joint Committee on Information Technology in the Social Welfare Sector, the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, the Mental Health Review Tribunal, and the Board of Directors of The Salvation Army (Macau).

In 1993, Ms. Chan obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Hong Kong Baptist University, and in 2009, she completed a Master’s program in Social Service Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
